Remembering my best friend Haiden
I’d like to tell you about my best friend Haiden Davis who passed away last month on March 12th. I believe we meet many soul mates in our lifetime and I knew Haiden was one of mine ever since I met him when we were 17 at Berklee five week. He brought so much meaning and joy to my life, he loved unconditionally and was the best friend I’ve ever had. He was also the most incredible violinist (even though he didn’t realize how talented he was) and I have been given his violins so I can carry on his musical voice forever. Haiden struggled with addiction and substance abuse the entire time I knew him, and he took his own life after years of struggling with his mental health. I talked with his family and got their permission to share all of this, because we believe it’s important to talk about suicide openly so that others who are struggling can feel more comfortable reaching out for help. As many of you know, I’ve worked very closely with several mental health and suicide prevention organizations over the years and losing Haiden had made that work even more personal and pertinent. I will forever share his story and work to help others who are struggling in the way he did. I know many of you will want to help because mental health is a topic that affects all of us, so I’ve made a gofundme and 100% of those proceeds will be donated in Haiden’s name to mental health organizations as well as scholarship funds for young musicians.
